Portrait Artist Ben Angelly on the George Floyd mural he painted in June of 2020 in the University City Loop.
“Painting this mural of #georgefloyd was the most powerful and moving experience my art has ever created for me. After hundreds of incredibly positive interactions and responses I was left truly humbled at the response to something I painted. I could see how it affected people and it deepened my perspective on how we see each other. We need to show people we care more often, especially when they look different than us. We need to see individuals for who they are and not what group they belong to. Love more, hate less and look for the good in everyone. Maybe a bit trite and cliche but definitely a recipe for a better world. Thank you to everyone that helped make this happen @craigcurriestl@exploreucity and to every person that stopped and said hello, took pics, sent messages and showed appreciation…it was an experience I’ll never forget.”
