Whether you're vegan, have a vegan friend or are just looking to eat more plant-based meals, St. Louis has a number of vegan-friendly restaurants with both American and globally-inspired flavors. While you can likely find a vegan dish at almost any area joint, these are the spots where the options will make it hard to choose just one.

Frida’s is an award-winning, eco-friendly restaurant that gets it’s name from owner Natasha Kwan’s cat, given as an homage to Frida Kahlo. TThe restaurant recently reopened with a more flexitarian menu, but the vegan menu still abounds with options. Frida’s is known for its signature Impossible burger but creatively incorporates produce, beans and nuts to make a variety of vegan dishes. The tacos are made with sunflower taco “meat,” and the tuna wrap is created with chickpeas. Don’t miss out on Bonito Bar inside Frida’s, which features a list of signature drinks and classic cocktails.

This pan-Indian restaurant and bar has a good amount of vegan options on its menu, all clearly marked. Get the fresh okra stir-fry (cooked with shallots, coconut, curry leaves and spices) or the organic yellow dal tadka (yellow lentils, garlic, tomato, curry leaves, mustard seeds and fresh coriander) for your entrée. For a small plate, order the cocktail samosa, a classically seasoned potato-stuffed pastry. For something a little different, try out the pickled mango from the “dips and pickles” section of the menu.
